Vehicle Damage Mechanical, Electrical and Trim Technician

As an MET technician you will be trained to assess the level of vehicle damage to mechanical and electrical components, make decisions on whether they are repairable, remove and repair damaged items and consistently deliver exceptional customer service. The Apprentice will work alongside fully qualified body repair technicians in state-of-the-art Ford bodyshops. The training will include: Health & Safety Vehicle design and construction layouts Engine components design and construction Diagnosis and interpretation of technical data Apprentices will acquire skills in the identification and correct use of tools, vehicle design principles and the components and operation of auxiliary systems Typical Working Week – Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm. Future Prospects – A Ford Apprenticeship provides an opportunity to secure a rewarding long-term career with Ford and within the automotive industry. Once qualified and experienced there is unlimited scope for career progression and earning potential. Level of Apprenticeship – The Apprentice will undertake the programme at Level 3 for 30 months. Duration of Programme – 30 months. College Attendance Over the course of the 30 month programme Apprentices receive 16 weeks of expert specialist college instruction. Apprentices attend a Ford approved Centre of Learning for 8 separate blocks Support in the workplace In addition to receiving support from a dedicated mentor within the workplace, Apprentices also have a dedicated Skills Coach from Skillnet. The Skills Coach will support the Apprentice throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship Programme and will visit the Apprentice on site every 8 weeks to review and monitor progress and performance.

Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technician

Technical Apprentices will be provided the skills required to perform well in a highly technological and evolving automotive environment. Apprentices will work and train in state- of-the-art workshops using the very latest diagnostic equipment. Day to day tasks will include: Servicing MOT’s Vehicle Maintenance Observing and assisting senior technicians Training will include: Servicing – working to the Ford manufacturer service guidelines to ensure vehicles achieve optimum performance. Maintenance – replacing parts due to wear and tear. Repair – diagnosing faults and fixing problems. Typical Working Week – Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm Future Prospects – A Ford Apprenticeship provides an opportunity to secure a rewarding long-term career with Ford and within the automotive industry. Once qualified and experienced there is unlimited scope for career progression and earning potential. Level of Apprenticeship – The Apprentice will undertake this programme at Level 3. Duration of Programme – 30 months College Attendance Over the course of the 30-month programme Apprentices receive 22 weeks of expert specialist college instruction. Apprentices attend a Ford Centre of Learning four times a year for a two-week period. Support in the workplace In addition to receiving support from a dedicated mentor within the workplace, Apprentices also have a dedicated Skills Coach from Skillnet. The Skills Coach will support the Apprentice throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship Programme and will visit the Apprentice on site every 8 weeks to review and monitor progress and performance. Career progression opportunities Ford Apprentice technicians can progress on to become a Senior Technician, Workshop Supervisor or Service Manager. Alternatively they may work as a Breakdown Engineer, MOT Tester or specialise in a particular area like motorsport engineering. Technicians may also work on electric and hybrid cars or may specialise in tuning and modifying vehicles for higher performance. Once qualified, Ford Apprentices who want to explore their options and progress in their career are fully supported through a structured and comprehensive training programme.
